President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new Army battalion in Kwara State to strengthen security operations and tackle banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

The battalion will be stationed in Omu Aran, headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area, and is expected to enhance troop deployment and military response in areas affected by criminal activities. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq disclosed this in a statement issued by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Agboola.

AbdulRazaq said the approval reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing security challenges in the state. He expressed confidence that the new military formation would boost counterterrorism and anti-kidnapping operations, while security agencies continue coordinated efforts to rescue victims and clear criminal elements from forests across Kwara.
