The Federal Government has assured federal civil servants that payment of the outstanding wage award will begin before the middle of August. The assurance was given by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, during a meeting with the leadership of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC). He said approvals for the payment were being finalised, while outstanding promotion arrears were also being processed.

Oyedele said the government remained committed to fulfilling promises made to workers, noting that relevant officials had been directed to fast-track action on pending labour-related issues. He also assured organised labour that the government would continue to build trust through transparency, regular engagement and prompt implementation of agreements.

The JPSNC urged the government to quickly address outstanding wage awards, promotion arrears, salary relativityconcerns affecting health workers and other welfare issues. Officials of the Finance Ministry confirmed that reconciliation for the wage award had been completed and that payment was in its final stage, while Batch 7 promotion arrears, omitted during an earlier exercise, are now being processed alongside Batch 9.
