The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced a postponement of the commencement date for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger states.
According to a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the shift is due to ongoing renovation works being carried out at the orientation camps by the respective state governments. The scheme said the adjustment became necessary to ensure a conducive environment for Prospective Corps Members (PCMs).
The NYSC stated that the new date for commencement is now Wednesday, 12th August 2026, while the Cut-Off/Swearing-in Ceremony will hold on Friday, 14th August 2026. The Closing Ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, 1st September 2026.
The scheme urged all PCMs deployed to Sokoto and Niger to take note of the revised dates and to avoid embarking on night journeys to their orientation camps. Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, also wished all PCMs safe travels to their respective camps. The NYSC clarified that the extension affects only Sokoto and Niger, while other states for Batch ‘B’ Stream II will proceed as originally scheduled.
