President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, to present Nigerians with a detailed account of the progress, gains and challenges arising from the Federal Government’s economic reforms since 2023.
The President said the initiative, known as the “Reforms Scorecard,” is aimed at giving Nigerians a clear picture of the impact and cost of the policies introduced by his administration.
Tinubu said the scorecard would explain what the reforms have achieved, the difficulties they have caused and the economic problems the government believes were avoided by implementing the policies.
According to the President, his administration introduced difficult reforms in 2023 with the objective of building a stronger and more sustainable Nigerian economy.
He said transparency remained important, stressing that Nigerians deserved to understand the reasons behind the government’s policy decisions and their effects on the economy.
Tinubu specifically tasked Oyedele with explaining the figures behind the reforms, the policy choices made by the government, the progress recorded so far and the challenges that remain.
The President said the government would continue to provide Nigerians with information on the outcomes of its economic policies as it works towards achieving a stronger economy and a better future for citizens.
